The real Causeway is around 40,000 hexagonal columns packed edge to edge. Hexagons carry the same meaning in basalt and in honeycomb: separate parts locked into one strong whole.
Each column is a hexagonal prism skinned in one-way mirror and lit from inside. Lit, every face is a window and a mirror at the same time, so the LEDs bounce back and forth and the light recedes into apparent depth. Full spectrum and programmable, so colour and pattern shift through the night.
Two rods stand on an unlit hexagonal podium and play like a theremin. Hand distance to each rod sets the light — one rod for colour, one for brightness. Pack them close like the Causeway, space them out, or set them in a stone circle.
